Precisely calculating amount of filler powder needed
I’m not see what I am doing wrong so any help would be appreciated. When calculating how much raw and filler powder I need after mixing and attempting to fill the caps I always seem to come up short and have to mix more to completely fill my caps. For example, let’s say I want to make 50 caps of something at 50mg. That’s 2.5 grams total of raw powder I need. To calculate my filler powder I fill the “bottom” or larger part of the cap with my filler powder then dump it out and weigh it. I do this a few times to make sure the number is correct. So let’s say each cap holds .4 of filler powder. Times that by 50 caps is 20 grams total. Subtract 2.5 for the raw and I should need 17.5 filler powder and 2.5 raw powder to fill 50 caps no? I usually even use .5 or more raw powder to overdose and still come up short. Not by much but let’s say 2 or 3 caps will be half full.

It all depends on what you're using as filler and what raws you're using, particle density is different you know. If you're making it for yourself it's better if you make a suspension or use oraplus/syrpalta.

I just use dextrose as a filler. Could you explain how particle density comes into play given that I am measuring certain amounts and I assume, apparently incorrectly lol, that would be accurate enough. I would really appreciate it. And if this is the issue any suggestions on how to remedy it?

Different powders "grain size" is different so lets say flour is fluffier than creatine. So for example, if you fill a capsule with creatine it will weigh more than if you fill it with flour.
Same goes with different raws.
As I've mentioned before it's much easier to just suspend it and you can't get a more accurate dose than a suspension.
How are you filling the capsules? Do you have some type of capsule filler? Because sometimes the holes a bigger so the powder gets in between the holes and you loose some of it.
Only advice I can give you is that you can only try to fill them so the all get the same amount of powder. You will never get a precise dose when it comes to capsules and tabs. You can use a mortar to crush and mix the powders.

plus its very hard to really mix equally and be sure that each capsule has the right amonth of the raw

Buy a special set of mini spoons.
Find one that hold the amount of powder you need and cap the raws with no filler.

here i found that for you hope it will help ...would love to give credit to who at write it but i have found that on another forum long time ago
Procedure for an accurate mix:
To make this easier to follow, I will refer to the selected compound powder as 'CP' and the filler powder as 'FP'.
place blank caps in the capping machine
fill the caps with the FP (make sure they are completely full)
empty the caps out onto the scales and weight the FP
divide the weight of the total FP by the number of capsules the machine produces per time
clean the scales off before proceeding
place blank caps in the capping machine
fill the caps with the CP (make sure they are completely full)
empty the caps onto the scales and weigh the CP
divide the weight of the total CP by the number of capsules the machine produces per time
You will now need to determine the ratio of weights of the respective powders CP:FP which you have just capped and weighed.
Remember now that you have 24 caps of CP and 24 caps of FP for a total of 48 caps.
This is just an example of weights:
We determined that our total FP weight for the 24 caps was 18,000 mg or 750 mg per cap.
We determined that our total CP weight for the 24 caps was 10,800 mg or 450 mg per cap.
If you are making 100 mg caps of a specific compound for use, then your equations would look like this:
Note: 100 mg does not represent the weight of the cap but rather the active indredient of the finished cap.
100 mg CP = (unknown number) mg FP
450 mg CP = 750 mg FP
100 mg CP = 750 mg FP / 4.5 mg CP
100 mg CP = 166.67 mg FP
750 mg FP - 166.67 mg FP = 583.33 mg FP
583.33 mg represents exactly how much FP must be used per cap to allow for the presence of the CP.
Therefore, to make 48 - 100 mg caps of the specified compound in this example, you would need:
27,999.84 mg of FP
4,800 mg CP
To mix the CP and FP together you will need to use the mortar and pestle.
For a proper mix, make sure that the amount of FP you are adding to the mortar is equal to the existing CP or CP+FP as the mix progresses.
place all of the CP in the mortar (4,800 mg from the above example)
place an equal amount of the FP in the mortar (4,800 mg)
mix for a few minutes
place an equal amount of FP in the mortar (this time 9,600 mg which is equal to 4,800 mg CP + 4,800 mg FP)
mix for a few minutes
place the remaining FP into the mortar and mix

You can get one from amazon or ebay. Just get the right size caps.
