Not that there are endless threads on filtration, a half dozen on the first page yet no threads on stoppers anywhere in the close proximity.
Perhaps I meant exactly what I wrote. Perhaps you didn’t see my addition to other filter threads admonishing the use of plastic, ever, and suggesting the use all glass set ups?
Of course if you are using a membrane other than cellulose, you are exposing your solutions to some form of plastic.
As far as stoppers, most butyl rubber stoppers are “silicone treated” so if silicone is bad, it’s a shame you can’t really avoid it.
Your supposition as to my experience is way off. We don’t even have a plastic “funnel” anywhere in our lab and the only contact with plastic is the Whatman Polycap filters.
If I State something that could be dangerous, by all means inform the mods and have it pulled. But if you simply disagree with my comments or methods, understand that people seeking knowledge on home brewing benefit from multiple views and can make their own decisions about what makes sense. Otherwise it’s just one or two guys proliferating their processes and in some cases it ends up being the uniformed leading the blind.
