You will always loose some. You probably lost that much because you used a big filter.
For such a small batch I'd rather use syringe filters or brew more gear.
It was an autofil 250ml nylon
Surface area of filter has alot to do with it.
Would be less with syringe filter, yes.
Laboratory glass filtration systems where you install the sterile filter manually, have small surface area as well.
Many bottle top filters have larger filters, so slightly more loss.
Other factors: measuring with syringes or beaker will make you think you have a certain amount, but you actually have more or less.
Class A graduated cylinder would be the best method.

Thats alot to lose. Maybe a ml or two in a vaccum filter. Not 10. Something else happened

That is somewhat possible. Do you use a glass media bottle and a filtertop and hook it up to a vaccum pump?
