Thread: Syringe filter vs. Bottletop

How much can you push through a syringe filter before needing to replace it and at what rate does it filter oil (such as ml per min)? At what amount would you guys suggest that a bottletop filter would be worth the investment? Thanks.

I would say that if your filtering more then 100ml at a time then you definitely would want to use a bottle top filter. 100ml or less then a whatman syringe filter

TBH I've never used a syringe filter for oil. The bottle tops are cheap and easy. You just need to get some good media bottles and have a way to clean and sterilize them.

What is an easy way to sterilize a glass media bottle? And do you think a new one from medlab would come sterilized
