How to make gear thinner??
First, it’s nice to see everyone back. Second, anyone have any suggestions on how to make gear thinner (less viscous). I brew for myself and have no issues however stuff that I have gotten from reps is just so much thinner. I’ve used grape seed oil, mct oil, and a mixture of both. I know some places use mig and that helps but anything else? I’ve made longer esters at 250mg/ml and shorter esters at 100mg/ml. All good and pins smooth but just thicker than others.

MCT looks like water in a vial. Not sure which one you are using.

Any suggestions on a specific one? I’ve just purchased ones from local health stores

Those should work for you. I have heard of a few people that used Now Sports MCT oil with success, but I would think it's all up to whatever you're comfortable with.

If you go on eBay and search ************** grade mct oil bud there’s some good oil that’s really smooth and thin. It’s not cheap compared to reg oil but it’s definitely affordable, I have used it few times when I’ve brewed couple small batches to keep most of it for myself. I wouldn’t recommend using it to brew huge batches and I don’t remember the name but i know the label every time I go on there to find them
The same amount of reg oil would run6 to 16 this oil is around 25-35 but worth it for brewing your personal stuff. It’s smooth and doesn’t clog up filters and take long to filter

Also this thinner gear you’re talking about could be brewed with Eo which is very thin . There’s a lot of sources use it I’ve even seen some that use it strictly for there carrier

EO is $100/liter
MCT in ninja’s link is $25/gallon.
Anyone using EO as a straight carrier must be making some wicked gear.

Thank you for that link and the answers brothers. Why wouldn’t you suggest using mct for large batches?

I’m sure price difference is less when bought in bulk but I can name at least 2 companies that use EO as a carrier
