Transferring oil from media bottle to vials
What are you guys using to transfer the oil from media bottles to the open vials? Once I pull the top mount filter off the media bottle I知 just drawing out using 5ml syringe but takes a bit and seems unsterile. Looking for a better option.

I would be interested in hearing from some folks on this. I do what you do but with a 10ml syringe.

A very simple solution is to use the pour rings that come with the media bottles. You know, the thin plastic thing you forgot to take off bottle before "sterilizing" in the oven and it melted. It takes a steady hand but is easy enough, except from liter bottles.
I first used 30 or 60cc syringes you can get from the veterinary supply.
If you use a peristaltic pump for filtering, you can set that up to dispense IF you autoclave the silicone tubing.
I got a Brandtech Handistep digital pipette for just over $100 on eBay. They are about $1200 new. Slow but absolutely precise and the motor does everything.
I recently got a cool bottle top dispenser for about $300 on eBay as well but haven't used it yet. The whole device is autoclavable.

So I realized also they have the open caps for the gl45 media bottle with the septa rubber caps suitable for drawing the oil out with a syringe. Has anyone tried this method? Seems to be a pretty sterile option.

I use a 60 ml syringe with a metal tip, to extract and fill.

I guess it depends on how much volume your going through.
Personal usage I would think a 20ml syringe should be good enough.
If you doing heavy volume than I would go with a bottle top dispenser. Well worth the money if your doing lots or volume.

Reusing bottles without sterilizing and then capping with new sterile caps, is a recipe for killing yourself. Don稚 do that.
