Better filter options?
Hey guys just getting into brewing and everything went great expect for filtering the gear that part was terrible, it took forever to put 50ml through a whatman filter.
So better options are out there besides the whatman for filtering.
Also I seen something called a bottle top filter that looks like it might be a good option.

In my opinion unless your filtering over 200ml at a time bottle top filters are a waste of money.
For small brews a syringe filter is the way to go
You can build a syringe press really cheap and it makes using a syringe filter easy
Here is a link to the one I built
How to build a simple syringe press

Did you use a calking gun lol? Only takes me 5 minutes to filter 60mls through a .22 whatman

hmmmm there must be a problem somewhere as it took over a hour to filter 50ml. I went through 3 filters one right away because I thought it was taking to long and something must be wrong with it. Second one started to slow down half way through the 50ml so I swapped to a new one and it got me back to the original speed.
I considered going to the local farm and fleet and picking up a calk style one but I figured with the pressure that I was currently using it would just end up blowing the filter apart.
Not sure what the issue is at this point pretty standard stuff. 250mg/ml 2%ba 20%bb MCT oil. Maybe I just got a bad batch of filters.

Well I think my vent needle was plugged and that caused all my issues. Did a small batch of Test C today and it push through the whatman filter pretty easy the same 50mls I did last time would have only taken a couple mins.

Patience grasshopper. Try warming up the oil slightly. When I brew its bottle top with a hand vacuum pump. Pull the vacuum then walk away.

What psi do you use and how long to filter say 500mls?

I used the 60ml syringes with the syringe filters but put it in a caulking gun from homedepot. It made filtering so easy.
