As for surgery. Before you go down that route, get the inflamation down for about a week with some sort of anti-inflamitory or nsaid. It wont start healing till the inflamation calms. Then proceed to start training while being very careful. It will be a bit of trail and error at first. Once you have perfected training to not effect it, give it 2-3 months. After that would be time to evaluate surgery if its not improved. Just make sure you get a good hand and wrist orthopaedic surgeon.
Goodluck, i just recovered from a simular injury about a month ago, though still not 100%, its easily manageable now
