      2 Injuries

So guys here is the deal, I suffered a Bicep Tendon tear a little while ago and have been doing PT for it but to no avail so they said they want to do surgery to fix it. This is all fine and danddy, however just a week or so ago I hurt my other arm got a MRI and fuck me I have a level 3 rotator cuff tear which will with out a doubt require surgery. So my Dr says she wants to do one surgery on the bicep tendon let it get better then boom right back under for the rotator cuff tear surgery. So she thinks I may be out for a year maybe longer ( I am a very fast healer so I think maybe 8 months ) Do you guys have any sudgestions? suffer either of these injuries and have tips, or approximate healing times? Anything will help fellas.

Damn that sucks bro. I would suggest taking the longest time to heal as opposed to the shortest and start back very very slow. Easier said than done though LOL.....I wish I could help, but have never had to go through this before.

Ever thought about staying on GH the entire recovery time? It should help speed things up a little and help maintain your body from the lack of exercise.

      Good luck bro.

I was actually thinking of finally bitting the bullet and doing just that. A buddy of mines who just got his Pro Card in BBing said it would probally help me out a shit load with recovery. My only concern is they want to do one surgery heal then boom another surgery lol, so essentially 3-4 months apart, all the while I will likely be on pain meds and anti inflamatories dont know how well they will mix lol, but I do have a friend who is a Dr and I may have to speak with him see what he says...

That's a huge blow. PAiN's got it right though, GH. Take enough time to heal and don't cut it short. The last thing you need is to end up back in the OR and taking another year off.

Take it easy and go the long route to recovery. It is not uncommon to have an injury in each shoulder and a friend of mine in college had the rotator done and halfway thru recovery had the SLAP tear in the other shoulder done (football player) to get back on the field quicker. He was miserable and had 3 weeks where he was totally an invalid. Miserable time but made it through ok with a ton of babysitting and rehab, don't think it would work well for a "real world" situation but it is a thought. Recover from both surgeries in the time it takes for the longest one and rehab both at the same time.

I tore my right bicept about 4 years ago. Mine was torn from the top and rolled down my arm like a cheap window shade. Did you tear it from the elbow or shoulder side? I'm pretty sure a tear on the elbow side is worse than the shoulder side. I think it takes longer to heal and doesn't get as close to the pre-injury strength as a tear from the shoulder. All said, I was training again in 4 months. I forgot to mention I had the scar tissue in my shoulder removed at the same time. Good luck, it ain't gonna be easy. But it ain't gonna kill you either.
