TUF 14 Finale results: John Albert's TKO makes quick work of Dustin Pague
by Dann Stupp on Dec 03, 2011

LAS VEGAS – John Albert's entrance music wrote a check that his fists quickly cashed.

After entering the cage to the 1960s country hit "Big Bad John," Team Bisping bantamweight "Prince" Albert jumped into an immediate firefight with Team Miller's Dustin Pague and ultimately forced a TKO stoppage in just 69 seconds.

The fight was part of the night's preliminary card, which streamed live on Facebook prior to the Spike TV-televised main card. The event took place at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Albert, who was eliminated in the reality show's quarterfinal round, and Pague, a semifinalist, wasted little time trying to earn a UFC-contract-clinching victory.

Albert landed the first significant shot when he dropped Pague with a right. He immediately pounced, moved into mount, and then reached behind Pague's head and wrapped his own arm around his neck. With Pague essentially pinning himself, Albert unloaded a dizzying barrage of punches to force the TKO stoppage.

"I just like to strike, like to bang and put on a good show," Albert said. "But I'm good on the ground too.

"It's the best feeling in the world. I didn't know whether to cry or scream. I honestly thought it was going to be a three-round war. He is an amazing kickboxer, and I was going to try to dictate the fight, but I didn't think I hit that hard."

Albert (7-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) now owns stoppages in all seven of his career wins. Pague (10-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) snaps a five-fight win streak.
