Heavy double overhand Deadlifts are the best forearm strength and mass builder!

I used to do a routine called power forearms. I would highly suggest a look at it. It's a fairly simple program that takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Can't remember the author of the book but they also have maximum calves and legendary abbs. It's a synergistic program. I still do similar exercises just kinda added them into my other routines.

Wouldn't mixed grip be a better mass builder because you can lift more weight?

for good grip strength... never use straps or anything to take grip strength out of the exercise. on that note.. farmers carries, db rows(high reps work well), pullups, anything where you have to hold on to heavy weight for a long time. if you cant hold the weight, you cant do the weight. so back off if you need to. you should probably have issues holding your protein shake after your workout if your grip sucks. and dont expect to be able to text..
