Most MMA guys I roll with all still do the big lifts like bench, squat, DL.. They just do them in different forms, varying reps and sets depending on the week and how long before they fight. Doing MMA and or BJJ you never have an offseason so its not like football or bodybuiling when there is a down time. Do one heavy day a month and really work on you hips with explosive jumps and plyos..Tim Kennedy does box squats with pistols and goblet squats to help his hips rotate.

I had to stop going so heavy all the time because my knees couldn't take the stress of take downs and all the transitions.
