I was raised Southern Baptist/Methodist. As I got older, I started noticing how the richer families would “guide” the Church. Seeing how people would lie, cheat, steal, and be so fake. But everything would be good on Sunday because they would all be forgiven. Then they’d start all over again. As a firefighter/medic for over 20 yrs, I’ve seen too much tragedies. Drunk parents walking around what happened when their toddler is dead on the ground or floorboard because they weren’t put in a car seat. My Mother is a devout Christian and tells me everyday that she prays for me. I see too many hypocrites in religion. I live my life and I don’t push my beliefs on others. I believe that everyone deserves to believe in their god. Here lately, I wanted to go to a Buddhist temple to learn that religion. Lol. I’m trying anything to help me with my inner demons. I have too much hate. I’ve been betrayed by many and I don’t trust anyone. Well that’s prob more than what I was suppose to answer

I put my faith in God but none in any human. I have been the only person holding the hand of people I loved as they died. Their is a higher power and anyone who denies it is retarded.
0+0 does not equal everything. "0" in and of itself, cannot exist. Atheists that think they are too intelligent to believe in a higher power are missing the purest sense of the equation.
Look up Christopher Langan on youtube. Then read his writings on the cognitive theory of the model universe. He literally lays out the absence of a higher power being mathematically impossible.
The smartest man alive is trying to lay out the presence of God.
Btw, I was raised southern baptist in a church in which we all were related (family). Gonna have another beer at their disgrace.

Its very refreshing to see all of the respectful and intelligent answers left by the bros here! On ANY other forum I feel like a question like this would lead to a lot arguments and division. Good to see people able to take a controversial question like this and respond with integrity instead of bashing those who have different beliefs. Speaks to the caliber of this board. I am Christian btw.

I'm late to the party, but I'm catholic I guess. Do I go to church on a regular basis no. I pray every morning and every nite though. And I do believe that there is a God, after sitting with my dad and watching him go with a smile on his face, I have no doubt there is someone up there.

I don't think I am too intelligent to believe in a higher power. I just think that I am too intelligent to believe in a man made farce designed to make them feel better.
I am also smart enough to admit that there is probably life in other parts of the universe as well. Christians do not believe that there is life anywhere in our universe except earth and God.
I also don't believe that we have a spirit inside of us that lives beyond our physical form. We simply have a highly developed frontal lobes and developed brains which make us self aware of our place on earth and our mortality.
