Fasted cardio burns more fat that fed cardio… Bro Science?
For years I thought fasted cardio would help me loose more fat than fed cardio. This assumption was validated by several studies. However, some new studies are debunking that notion.
Their findings are that fasted cardio has no benefit over fed cardio. It is best to do cardio when you can, whether it is on an empty stomach or a full stomach and a calorie restriction over an extended period of time is what creates fat loss.

Today was leg day but my gym is closed for deep cleaning. I ended up going to a small private gym and people were benching so I jumped in and ended up doing chest, shoulders and tris.

According to Dr. James Dinicolatonio salt is an essential supplement for people who exercise regularly.
Wait right there! Salt causes high blood pressure!
Well, it does, but only for 25 percent of the population, who are salt sensitive. This means 3 out of 4 people reading this are not salt sensitive.
What are the benefits of supplementing with salt?

Salt gets rid of acid in cells; to excrete hydrogen you have to absorb sodium

It increases blood flow and blood circulation by acting as a vasodilator

It increases sweat to cool you off better

More profound is what happens to your body when you are low on salt.

One symptom of overtraining is a depletion of salt in muscle tissues

      Your heartrate goes up

      Stress hormones are elevated

You have adrenal fatigue and adrenal hypertrophy

      Uric acid levels go up

      You store more fat

      Triglycerides go up

LDL goes up and HDL goes down

You get muscle cramps and muscle spasms

      Your insulin resistance increases

Your bones weaken (when you do not have enough sodium in your diet, your body takes sodium out of your bones and while doing so takes calcium)

What dose of salt do I need every day?
Stan Efferding recommends 8g of salt a day for those that exercise.
It is hard to overdose on salt. If you have too much salt your brain sends signals making you not want any more salt. If you need salt your body activates a reward system making salt taste better.
If you drink coffee, you need more salt because coffee causes you to excrete more sodium in your urine.

Here is an article talking more about salt intake.

Fish. You gotta figure that for the amount of pressure our body’s our under when squatting or leg pressing shit is gonna hurt. It’s happened to me. I find that before I unlock the catches I take a few real deep breaths and on the last one not only do I hold it a minute I push my hole stomach and diafram out and even when I start breathing I try to concentrate on keeping my stomach out. It plays hell on your core and sometimes it forces my hernia out a little but I can deal with it. Be careful tho if you have never tried to hold your breath be carful you can pass out if you hold it to long.

Today is a rest day. I was going to be doing chest for power but its snowing, a lot, and my gym is in another town. I feel like I'm back living in Ft. Drum, NY with all their lake effect snow.

I did some good cardio scooping snow; I have a long driveway. I'll have to scoop again tomorrow morning since it's still snowing pretty hard.

I did my usual LISS walking on my treadmill watching Japanese cartoons, a new episode of Radiant out today.

A good lunch but I think it included too much eggs. 5 egg whites and 3 whole eggs are on the higher side. I would suggest you scale them down to 3 egg whites and 2 whole eggs. What do other readers think?
