A POLICE inspector raked in £66,000 by running a steroids factory with an ex-convict.

Darren Lewis, 50, teamed up with Nicholas Boys, 31, to make and sell the drugs to weightlifters — just months after Boys got out of jail for similar offences.

Lewis, who served 25 years with Essex police and the Met, pocketed the cash between 2008 and 2013.

Cops found steroids worth £43,000 in the dad of two’s garage in September 2013.

He and Boys were found guilty of conspiring to supply drugs at Southwark crown court.

Lewis, from Rayleigh, Essex, and Boys, of Leigh-on-Sea, were each jailed for 3½ years.

Judge Deborah Taylor told Lewis: “Your career is now over.”
