SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) -
After a week of not saying who or why, Scottsboro city officials have confirmed those involved in an illegal steroid abuse scandal.

WAFF 48 obtained six names from court testimony Monday of those involved.

On Tuesday, Scottsboro's mayor finally confirmed the information after saying there was no cover up and no crime committed.

Chris McIllwain released the information in a court hearing on Monday.

Mayor Melton Potter confirmed McIllwain and Officer Jeremy Ake were suspended three days for the use of testosterone.

Potter said Lt. Shane Clarke and Officer Gerald Mount were suspended four days for the use of testosterone.

The mayor did not say why the other officers received one additional day but court testimony from McIllwain on Monday revealed he received his supply of illegal steroids from Officer Mount.

The mayor said he and Chief Ralph Dawe believe these are isolated incidents and not inherent of a greater problem in the department.

Potter said they investigated the two other names released in court testimony on Monday, but found no wrongdoing.
