Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of Anabolic Steroids

EL PASO, Texas -- Deputies conducting a traffic stop Tuesday in East El Paso found anabolic steroids after they said the driver appeared "extremely nervous."

Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff's Officer Strike Team pulled over a car after the driver changed lanes in an unsafe manner about 6:50 p.m. on the southbound lanes of North Zaragoza Road. The car was also describes as having a defective license plate.

Deputies said the driver, 47-year-old Servando Castrejon, was visibly nervous and tried to conceal a small bag in on the front-passenger's seat. After a searching the car and the bag, deputies found seven 10 ml vials. Deputies also received assistance from Border Patrol agents.

The vials were labeled with what was later determined to be anabolic steroids. Castrejon reportedly told deputies that the vials contained steroids he obtained from Mexico.

He was arrested on suspicion of five counts of possession of controlled substance and was booked into the Jail Annex.
