The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the girlfriend of a deputy arrested Monday night on charges of possession of steroids, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was the person who notified the department the deputy was in possession of the drugs.

Deputy John Eaton, a member of the sheriff's office for seven and a half years, was booked into the county jail around 10 p.m. His bond is set at $3,500.

According to the sheriff's office, detectives obtained a sworn statement earlier Monday revealing Eaton's suspected drug use and possession.
It turns out Eaton’s girlfriend contacted law enforcement after she said she had been in a physical altercation with him earlier in the evening.
She told investigators the altercation started after she wanted to see the call log on his cell phone, but he refused and kicked her as she sat on a couch in the couple’s home, according to a sheriff’s office report.

The two then got into a fight, and after, the girlfriend took photos of her injuries and photos of Eaton’s Lee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sheriff’s badge sitting next to a vial of Testosterone Enanthate, an anabolic steroid.

She also told investigators she knows Eaton injects steroids into his buttocks and has used the narcotic in the past couple days.
Following a search of Eaton's Fort Myers residence, detectives discovered three vials of Testosterone Enanthate, an empty vial of the same steroid, a vial of Nandrolone Decoanate and needles to inject the steroids. All were found in his bedroom.

A green leafy substance, which tested positive for marijuana, was found in the master bathroom along with an aluminum can altered to smoke the substance.
An investigation revealed that Eaton allegedly used the illegal substances as recently as two days before his arrest.

Eaton has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation.
Eaton joined the sheriff's office in September 2005 and had been recently assigned to patrol Bonita Springs.
