This isn't some kooky pseudo-science, but rosemary oil has to be one of my favourite pre-workouts ever.

Inhalation of rosemary oil effects the autonomic nervous system by increasing blood pressure, heart rate and respiratory rate. Subjects also feel 'fresher' after inhalation. Brain wave activity was also effected via a reduction in alpha frequencies, and increasing beta frequencies.

So, it is CNS stimulating, and increases sympathetic drive, which ultimately should be our aim pre-workout. (And only around the pre/intra-workout period)

As an aside, it's an excellent nasal decongestant, which is awesome if you practise any deep belly nasal breathing with your lifting.
