      High RBC on TRT

So current dose is 130 mg test c. I am on hcg along with that. No ai because it isn't necessary, estrogen stays in check. My RBC is typically a 52 if I try to stretch out the donation beyond 8 weeks. I donate every 8 weeks but doc wants me to be able to go every 12 weeks for iron (ferratin) levels. Iron was low recently. I started on an iron supplement that fixed it in short order. Back to the RBC. My question is how common is the high RBC for others and what do you do about it. How often do you donate and what do you do to mitigate low iron? Side note: I snore if I sleep, period. Doc wants me to get sleep apnea test. I probably will but I dread sleeping with some sort of mask on.

Get a sleep study done. This could literally be the answer to your problem. More frequent pins seems to help mine are well. Cardio helps over time.

I donate every 8wks. Low iron doesn’t mean low iron. Crazy I know. Docs know very little about iron. Copper and vitamin A regulate iron metabolism. You have to test those to really find what’s up. But most need 3-4K iu Vitamin A a day, not synthetic either. That will help regular iron metabolism.

Have you ever checked ferritin? Mine was low 7 weeks following donation, almost out of range at 12 . I waited 3 weeks to run labs again and after taking the iron supp. tested at 43. Bad part is RBC was 52.8. Then I donated and have not checked again.

I am probably going to do the sleep study. Just putting it off because I would rather go through the pain of surgery if it is obstructive vs. sleep with a mask. (I really don't want to do either)

You could always come off the test and stay off for a few months. Not sure if that's an option for you, but I'd be surprised if that didn't bring your values down. Works for me anyway. Pretty much all aas are going to push your rbc and hematocrit out of range, not just a-bombs. Your dosage is low, but since TRT is long-term, who knows. As for the sleep apnea, they're coming out with a new micro-cpap, which looks way better than those old school jet pilot masks. Not sure how close it is to being released though. Seems like it's been in development for years now...

I got a sleep study done few months ago (GF was bitching about my snoring) Went in to the Doc in total denial telling him, " I don't know what the big deal is..." He looks at me without saying anything for about 20 seconds and then says, "I've never seen apnea scores this high.. You're literally off the F#cking charts!" I'm like.. "So? what's the big deal?" He look at me again like I'm a martian.. and says, "Uh, 200-400% higher risk for heart attack or stroke... Accelerated Dementia and reduced ability to concentrate from lack of oxygen to your brain. Is that a big enough deal for ya?"

Needless to say I got a CPAP (Continous Positive Airway Pressure) machine and it's been a Game Changer. Best Sleep I've ever had in my life! 7 solid hours without waking up and Dreams like a 4k Movie. My blood pressure dropped dramatically too, and my resting heart rate now 55 bpm (at 6' 255 lbs) And No Snoring.. which makes my GF super happy!

To get back to the OP's question about RBC count & TRT~ I was on it for 3 years (also on HCG) before my count was slightly elevated. Doc wasn't even worried though cause he knows I train hard and play hard. But I started to donate 3 times per year and all is good. Oh, and I split my TRT into bi weekly injections

Have you seen any difference in your RBC following the CPAP?

Very wise brother, I’ve yet to have one of these done as myself. I snore like a mofo but I’ve never had an issue sleeping or staying asleep. Everyone is always scared of the CPAP but once they have it and adjusted it’s the best sleep of their life

My best sleep is getting laid after work and going to bed.
