      Pellets versus injections

To the guys out there that were at one time on pallets and now doing the injections, why did you leave the pellets for the injections?

I realize this is an old thread, but I'm going to chime in. I used the pellets for years, and I really loved them. Plus, my insurance classifies the pellets as an in-office procedure, so it is free for me. I just pay my doctors visit copay.

Eventually, however, the incision site pain got to be too annoying and also interfered with my gym schedule. For example, after the implant I would have 1-2 days of acute site pain. Sometimes longer. This would not only affect things like my sleep, but would also affect the compound movements I could perform at the gym during this time, such as squats.

Squats, and even deadlifts, would cause the incision sight pain to worsen slightly.

I'm lucky enough to have a world renowned urologist who implants many, many times a week. He's great. But even his skill could not prevent the implants from popping out a couple of times over the years during heavy duty squats. There's just too much pressure in that area.we discussed incision placement as well as implant depth to avoid this problem, but we could never come up with a perfect solution.

So I moved back to injections.

I rotate delts and ventro glutes and everything seems to be okay. It's not that big of a switch, really, you just have to be okay with thinking about things a little bit more, like not forgetting your injection day, and making sure you pick up all the dirty alcohol pads! And get a sharps container!

I'm not sure that's always the case. I did pellets for years, and my levels were consistent within 3-5% week over week. Seriously, my doc and I could predict - each week and almost to the day - where my numbers would be. Very, very consistent.

Sorry for the delay - I just saw this.
They popped out at various times - sometimes within days, sometimes a couple of months in.
I realize it sounds kinda gross, but it wasn't that big of a deal - just annoyingly painful but nothing horrible.

Sounds like the pellets could be more hassle than they are worth.

I just never liked the idea of the pellets. Too much like what they do to cattle.

    2. Pellet cost? My HRT doc bills me 100$ per pellet. 14 pellets is 1400$ plus the procedure!
