Therapeutic Blood Draw
Running into a issue with a new "rule" from Vitalant. Apparently as of 1/2023 the prescribing Dr must be licensed in the same state as you reside. Example: My TRT Dr. and practice are located in Florida. I live in PA. No one in the practice is licensed in PA, so Vitalant will no longer accept his scripts for a Phlebotomy. I recently had blood work done and like usual my hemoglobin / hematocrit levels are high, thus the script for the Phlebotomy. Anyone else running into this issue? Ive been working with this practice of almost 7 years now, and really like them. Hate the thoughts of trying to find another TRT Dr. Feedback is greatly appreciated

Wow, that sucks. Going to try and donate blood today with Vitalant. I ask them in the past how high was too high and they told me that they don't except only if it's too low. Don't know if it matters but I'm out west and it's been 4 months since I last donated. BTW how high is too high?

Im not sure what chart Vitalant uses. For me I had a script to donate 4 time a year. Every time I went in to donate, the nurse would do the finger prick, check me, and she would say "yep, your levels are high". This is all government BS. Im sure this was lobbied at some level so that each state gets their licensing money now. That's all this is...

I donate with the Red Cross. Have donated mid cycle and never had a problem. I had blood draws and my hematocrit was extremely elevated, but have always been fine to donate.

Just go donate at a local clinic or hospital. They’ll happily take your thick blood, full of RBCs and hemoglobin. You might even get a free t shirt.

Never had a problem in the past, but when he said Vitalant, it had me worried. Wasn't able to find out yesterday because they were closed for 1 1/2 hr lunch and couldn't wait. So will find out next week if it's a company thing or a State thing. Will have to look for a Red Cross.
