Testosterone Labs
I haven't done a Testosterone lab since 2020. I just scheduled one for this month. Can anyone tell me whether it makes a difference if I fast or not before the labs?

it is not a requirement for testoerone labs, but i fast before any lab for the most accurate readings...even if it would only fluctuate the results a little. i would fast.

I've read that eating a large meal will drop the total number. I was under the impression it was the other way around. I agree with you, though! I'd want the most accurate reading. I just want to make sure. Thanks for the prompt response.

Just to give an update of my last test lab. The results were 457.8 ng. Is that good for a 50 year old? Or should I say, is that optimal?

im not a doctor, but I would say total numbers are arbitrary. My primary care doc goes on how I feel. I’m 51 and I’m on 100mg a week that puts me around 700 ng depending on when I get bloods. My point is. this where I feel the best these numbers may be to low for some and to much for others. I believe trt should be tailored to the individual. Just my opinion

Perhaps I should have added the fact that I'm totally natty! I have yet to begin TRT. This lab test was just to know my starting point. However, I agree with your statement. It makes total sense to me. Thanks for the reply, brother.

No worries. I’m sure others who have more knowledge than myself will chime in.

No sex within 24 hours is a new one for me. I’ll keep that in mind for next time. Thanks.

I had to ask a doctor about it myself. It can skew test, fsh, and something else.
