Geezus it’s summer huh?!? Lol I’m thinking a trip down south next weekend and soaking in the river is going to be the ticket... take full advantage of the heavy winters melt off and the coolness it will provide... I can’t wait! I’m not built for the heat anymore... that feature died with the old me when I left California many moons ago...
Got all my berries picked, washed, measured and bagged... I guess only zucchini, tomatoes, broccoli, corn and lettuce is ready currently so that’s what I’ll be eating this week... I’m excited for the corn though.. I love fresh corn. As long as it’s legit corn and not that fake gmo poison corn. Which luckily not many around these parts grow that shit...
20 dozen Eggs restocked, fresh chickens cooked, separated, weighed and bagged for the week... left overs to the freezer in marinade ready for the crockpot.
I even got my hands on some fresh elk steaks... Which is funny since it ain’t elk season lol ssshhhh... one lesson in life I know, you ain’t stopping a man who survives off the land from providing for his own. Nor will you tell him what he can kill to eat or when he can hunt it on his own land... so I’ll reap the benefits of his generosity and kindness for allowing me to partake... im a grateful man indeed... even more so that I can still sit on a big ass front porch, unrushed on time and listen to an old timer tell me about his hay days... there’s just something so fucking cool about it... to see his eyes light up as he tells me about drunken bar brawls and nasty mean bulls... to seeing him pat his old wife on the ass with his mucked up, scarred up and overworked man hands and thank her for bringing out iced tea... in an big old glass pitcher... shot gun leaning up against the wall by his rocker, for coyotes trying to steal chickens... his old beat cowboy hat and worn out overalls... He likes me. Mostly because I “ain’t one of them lazy fuckstick, streety hippy vaginas, afraid to get their hands dirty” ... which never made sense to me, hippies I see are all dirty as fug and love/promote/ and are active in organic farming... and there’s plenty of them out here in the pacific northwest for me to know this... but hey, I’ll take a compliment with grace, however it comes lol
Having the opportunity for these front porch visits, after plucking, picking and chasing my future food... it really helps to bring me back down to earth... an escape from my own spinning wheels... listening to his stories of a world long past... the internal lessons were the same... the worlds a much bigger place and it actually doesn’t revolve around me... go figure... I’m grateful for these reminders
