How effective is an exercise bike?

I had knee surgery back in November, so I'm pretty limited when it comes to exercising. Being bed ridden for a week, and not exercising for months took a tole. I've gained a lot of belly fat and am not happy with how I look. Like I said, I can't do much, but I can ride a stationary bike like this- FitDesk 2. Desk Exercise Bike with Massage Bar Review - FitnessGeko.
I'd like to get rid of my access belly fat, how effective would the bike be?

Very effective! I did stationary bike as my sole source of cardio in a 300sq ft studio in Chicago. I got super lean! Around 8% bodyfat. At the time I trained at a local park and bought a used Tunturi bike for $35.

I know if it's the spin bike you are referring to. It is one of the best in my opinion. I lowered my visceral fat even by adding this in my routine. You can also build up your legs by doing a heavier resistance.

Anything can be effective if you use it as such. If you get on it and just go through the motions, yeah it won’t be too good. But if you get on it and go balls out, it’ll help melt that fat off.

Can you row? A row machine is more whole body and a better body fat solution.

Probably won't burn much in calories unless you are going hard for a couple of hours a day. Its probably good for the mobility of your knee.
