      Knee Wraps

I know this would belong more in the bodybuilding or powerlifting section but more people come through here so more will have a chance to comment.

I've read a lot of literature saying that knee wraps can actually damage the joint over time due to shearing forces. However wrapping the knees adds a significant amount of stability so wouldn't that in itself reduces patellar movement which would in turn reduce shearing forces on the joint.

I feel anecdotal evidence is valuable so what are you guys thoughts on using knee wraps? Good, bad, or fuck do what you want because you only get one body in this lifetime haha?

I used to have really bad knee pain years ago. I started using knee wraps and it was a life saver for heavy squats. I use them on all heavy sets and if i'm out of town and forgot my wraps i just don't go real heavy. I'm 40 now and i think my knees would be fucked without them.

Go with sleeves. They provide consistent support everytime. Wraps differ depending on how tight you wrap them, and the force will always be different until you become excellent at wrapping. Alot of sleeves have tight compression, and if you dont have monster calves can size down a bit get even more compression. But this consistency provides a control to monitor the progress of your squat strength. Move your 1rm then that moves your 12 rep range. Gaing measurable strength and size overtime. Just my thoughts. I've wrapped up super tight and added 75lbs to my squat over sleeves. Then I've had bad wraps and caused some discomfort in the hole. Couldn't get consistent wraps. Just my thoughts

I only use compression sleeves when squatting. I have been squatting over 20 years without them so I figure why start now.
